After graduating with a degree in Psychology and Philosophy, my first job was selling used Volvos in Taiwan before then heading off to China to sell Coke to the forty million inhabitants of Zhejiang (the photo is me at our new factory!). Since this inauspicious start, my career has taken me to work in six different countries - UK, Germany, China, Taiwan, Thailand, & India - and five different industries - beverages, mobile telecoms, e-commerce, ride-hailing & healthcare. The best way to understand my career is as a reaction to the trend towards increasing specialisation. I am a generalist at heart, stubbornly trying to avoid being pigeon-holed and desperate to try and keep the big-picture in view in order to see how everything connects.
